Ringsend, an ancient area of the city
Ringsend steeped in history from the landing of Cromwell in 1649 to the 21st Century with the development of Ireland’s modern IT sector off Pearse Street/Docklands.
The characteristic landscape of mostly early 1900’s cottages and mid 1900’s corporation flats twin now with modern residential apartment developments. There is a strong community spirit developed through decades of generations with families staying in the area alongside the new generation of millennials setting down roots.
The feeling of community excitement and confidence in the area is reflected in the many changes of businesses. Just like Just Property many new businesses have developed and grown in the area. Our connections go back 20 years and we meet and know so many existing and new local families.
There is an excitement around sports clubs and community activities in the area. The growing “fondness” of the area is evidenced in the interest shown for traditional cottages appearing for sale. What people love about the area covers a wide range of feelings. It could be the seasonal street parties organised, the way you quickly get to know your local pharmacist, who you might bump into for a coffee and the quietness of the area at weekends. Ringsend is only a short walk from main shopping districts in Grafton Street, Stephen’s Green and Merrion Square with it’s buzzing food market. Then, Sandymount Strand is equally a short distance for a bracing early morning and late evening walk. Don’t forget the Pigeon House Light House!
